Something you should be thankful for this Thanksgiving...

I would say that the month of November reminds us to be thankful for many things, now I am not sure why we decide to express our thankfulness only one month of the entire year.. for my math friends that is saying that we are only thankful 8.3% of that time.. wow.. I am also not sure what is is about November that really reminds us to be thankful since all I have seen this month in the stores is Christmas stuff that doesn't remind me to be thankful but to be shamelessly asking for more.. anyways.. on to my point here ...

It is the little things that we need to remember year around and be thankful for, for instance ladies my main reason for writing this.. when is the last time you were thankful for your NAIL LADY!!!! Well I am here to tell you to add this person to your list this year, because good nail ladies are hard to find, and not sure a specific lady, but just a good nail salon in general. Since our move, I have gotten my nails done 2 times.. The first place was wonderful so I thought.. $30 for a mani/pedi.. wow that is a deal!! However the service was worth way less than $30 bucks, and after waiting for what I was told was going to be 10 mins, which was actually 45 mins.. and then being asked to walk across a not so clean floor barefoot.. GROSS!!! I decided this place was not worth coming back to.. so on to the next place.. I guess you get what you pay for!

The second place was still yelling "pick your color" as soon as I came in, which I hate, but can deal with.. however I found out after I started my nails that a mani/pedi was $45 dollars here, which is a bit pricey( which by the way, Why do nail places never post their prices and if they do they are hidden?? ).. so what do you do once you already have your feet in the water.. you just pay the price!! Well things seemed to be better so I didn't have a problem with the extra cost until, my favorite part came.. the MESSAGE!! I love this part.. oh but I was so disappointed because the lady put the lotion on and then slapped it around literally and this took about 10 seconds.. then she ask me if I want more message!! Well of course I do, so I said yes please!! This is when she pulls out the good stuff!! I was a happy camper, until... it was time to pay, the total is now $55?? , why I ask.. "you get extra massage time".. ahhhh... of course they would charge me for that, the should have said, " Do you want more massage for $10??""... annoying so now this place is crossed off my list..

They say third time is a charm.. so hopefully the next time will be much better.. how I just want to go back to my lady in Dallas.... so moral of the story, be thankful for your nail lady, it is hard to find good ones, and if you don't get your nails done, replace the nails in this story with your hair lady and be extra thankful!!!

Fridays are always good days!!

Today, I got to see our little one!! However it is a shy little baby, when it was time to do the ultrasound, it decided to hide from us!! I had to go drink some water and wait 30 minutes and then go back and try again, this time the little one decided it was nap time! The little nugget was sleeping..I mean really little nugget, could you just work with me!! :) .. so we woke it up and it immediately put one hand on it's head and one over it's eyes!! How cute is that, he/she is a shy one!! ( This can't be true if it has any part of his daddy???)

Little Nugget is getting bigger!!
To add to this good day, I bought my first Christmas present, well actually my second Christmas present since I already bought the dogs their gifts!! I love knocking people off my list for holiday shopping, who could the present be for?? I am not telling!! :) .. however I will share with you, Cooper and Chloe's present..

Doggies need towels after their baths too!:)
And I can't end this good day with out sharing the bedding my mom is working on!! She has graciously offered to make the baby bedding for me, which I am so thankful for, since I am told I am picky little one, this allows me to pick exactly what I want!! Yea!! This is the first piece my mom finished and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!

This is just the quilt for the bedding, more to come!!
To top this great Friday, Drake and I are going to dinner in downtown Los Gatos, to a cute pizza place!! I love the area and it should be a fun night out together!! Yea for Fridays!!

I'm Back.. and I'm Pretty Sure I am Fat

Oh Texas, what I decided I miss most about you, is well your FOOD of course.. Here is my world series line up this past week:
Chick-Fli-A.. Why are you not in my new town.. you are so good!! Especially on Sunday's when I can't have you! This was my first stop as soon as I landed!!

Yes, make no mistake you just saw TWO bowls of queso.. I  went to happy hour with some teacher friends and ate queso and then drove straight to dinner with some other friends and got a second bowl of queso! CALIFORNIA this is what queso is suppose to be.. take note and start making some in your restaurants!!

You can't go to Texas with out getting a Whataburger.. I think I would be rich if I started one of these out here!!Maybe that should be my new job..... :) In and Oiut you would go out of business!!

Poke-E-Joe's... BBQ is only true BBQ in Texas.. other states try, but it doesn't compare..

So why all of this food, because I sadly can't get any of it in California, and I have been craving it all!! :) I am now officially disgusted with myself, after this blog, and I was wondering why my pants were tight, and I would love to blame that on the baby growing inside of me, however I think I would be lying to myself if I did that!! To the gym I go tomorrow!!

Enough Food Talk, so when I wasn't eating in Texas I truly had  a great time seeing friends and family! It was wonderful, and I can't wait till I get to go back! I did miss Drake, so I am glad to be home with him now!!

Oh Happy Day...

So all day, I have been just as joyful as can be, smiling from ear to ear and just simply happy! So I thought I would share with you all the things that are making me happy, well I guess just some of the things, since we could be here all day if I listed each thing. :)

Fall is my favorite time of year, and just makes me happy!

These beautiful flowers are growing like crazy in our front yard, they are so pretty and the best part of the flowers, is that I have had to do absolutely nothing to make them this pretty! Which is probably why they are actually growing. In Texas, these would not exist in my yard, but currently there are least 100 of them blooming!!

This is my new jacket I bought today, and not only do I love the jacket, but I love that I got a steal on it. I felt like running out to the car as quick as I could before they realized how cheap the sold the jacket to me! What a great feeling and such a fun color!!

Ahh, my luggage, who would have thought luggage would make me smile! When I got it down today to start packing, I just got so excited about going home!!I get to see all my friends and family tomorrow!! ( Lets not forget to state the obvious here, the happy day is coming from the fact that I finally made it to my trip home, which has been on a count down since the last time I got my luggage out to move out here! )

This is Chloe's new steps to get through the doggy door! This makes Drake and I both happy, since we no longer have to get up and take Chloe out in the middle of the night, or listen to her cry! Gosh that is really a pain, I really hope I never have to encounter crying in the middle of the night again, good things babies don't do that! :)

Ok, this is actually where California once again tried to ruin my day!! Today was the day that I decided to take all my water bottles and cans to the recycles center to cash in for all my money California has been taking from me when I purchase my water! Well take a look, actually you might want to get your calculator out, above is what I got back today!! That is right.. a whole $3.09, I mean really after all my efforts to help stay green, this is all I get back!! The lady at the Safeway lied to me, you don't get ALL your money back!! I am debt now since I spent money to buy containers to keep the bottles separate!! On top of just getting about 3 dollars back, they should at least pay me an extra 5 dollars to walk back into that place, it smelled so so so bad!

Even though California tried to ruin my day, I didn't let it get me down, I am going to take my money and go get some pumpkin ice cream at baskin robbins! I believe I deserve a treat after all my hard work!!

Happy October everyone!!!

Trick or TREAT...

Chloe only hears the last part of that saying, and when she hears "Treat" she perks right up. In getting ready for Halloween, I of course had to explain to Chloe that the only way you get "treats" on Halloween is to dress up!! So today we tried on our outfits!! Over Halloween Chloe will be staying with Drake's Brother Donald and his family which consist of  four kids, so I am sure the outfit Chloe ends up wearing will all depend on what the kiddos pick!! Here are some pictures of Miss Chloe getting ready for Halloween...

Speaking of Treats, I had got quite the treat yesterday when I met Drake's sisters in Berkley and got to meet both little babies. Little Miss Riley who is 7 weeks and Miss Stella who is 11 weeks!! They were both super cute, and dressed alike. I loved getting to see both babies and sisters!!

Hope everyone has a great Halloween!!!

It's offical..

I live in California legally!! Yes, I spent my whole day yesterday visiting the San Jose DMV.. not a place I would put on the must visit list in the Bay Area, well unless you want to learn a new language or just get some good people watching. I think I was the only person whole spoke English there, and the only person who knew how to count. People would not go when their number's were called and then would want to cut in front of you.. oh it was so fun! I quickly learned that I was going to have to take a written driving test to be able to get a licence, which is odd since I took one at 16 and have been driving for 10 years, I guess they wanted to make sure I didn't forget how to drive.. annoying..

I was a bit scared about the test, I am not going to lie, I was the girl in the back with the study guide blocking my face, trying to read over all the specific rules. After passing the test with much relief, I was waiting for the official licence to get printed and get my new plates handed over, and I was going to be on my jolly way after 4 hours of being there. But no, the state wanted to make sure I got a warm welcome, so the entire system decided to shut down, halting all business for the rest of the day. So where did I have to go spend my morning again, yep at the DMV... but we are all good now and I have an official California Licences and some plates to match on my car!! ( I am in a good mood today, so I won't talk about the cost difference to registrar your car here, I am sure we all know how that story ends:) )

Really California..

OMG.. I officially just found the number one reason while California is not my favorite place. I went to the grocery store today and decided to do the self check out since I only had 3 items, the first thing I scan is my water bottles that are $3.99( so I think), they show up as $3.99 on the screen and then below it as if I had scanned another item, shows this CRV for $1.20. At this point, I am confused, I did not scan anything else nor do I have any items for this amount. So like an annoying customer who wants to complain over $1.20, I ask,"mam, what is this charge, I don't understand will it came from." The lady looks at me like I am stupid and says, it's the CRV charge duh.. I look back at her with a what the heck is a CRV charge??

She explains to me that every time you buy plastic, glass, or cans California thinks it is OK to charge you a California Recycle Something charge to ensure that you recycle your plastics, glass, and cans.. I mean really, this is ridiculous.. but I am still confused at this point and she goes on to tell me that I can get my money back, so I start to ease up and think, Oh OK this is not so bad.. only to find out that you have to take your bottles, cans, and glass YOURSELF to a recycle center to get your money back.. REALLY

So in my head I start to process the fact that I pay for a recycle service that is mandatory at my house with the trash service, I apparently now have to pay to buy the plastic, glass or cans, and the ONLY way to get my $1.20 back is to bag up the bottles and take them to a center.. how in the world does California think this makes since, oh yeah that is right, they find any way they can to take your money!!!

So guess what I am doing this afternoon, yep you guessed, I am setting up a new trash can for just the bottles, cans and glass so I can make my trips to the recycle center to get my money back.. :)they are not getting my money! So we now have a regular garage can, a get your money back recycle can, and a normal recycle can to put out front... I would say this is crazy... Texas you just wait for when we come back, we will need a moving van just for our different trash cans...

( By the way this is not just over a $1.20, but that is just the water bottles, not the other things that you also get charged for times how many times you buy these things... and Drake family don't worry I will get over it, and soon love California! :) )
