Easter is always a wonderful day. The past few years Drake and I have either cooked a lavish breakfast or gone to eat a lavish brunch after we attend the early Church service. We normally go to the early service to avoid the crowds, however this year, we were planning around nap schedules so things changed a bit.
First, of course the Easter bunny came, and brought Easton this basket full of goodies. Then I had to go teach my little kiddos where we made crosses out of jellybeans and went through the Easter Story while Easton took his nap. Then finally we got to go as a family to church to the last service. We invited some friends, so they came and then we all went to lunch. It was a wonderful day even though things were a bit different.
However, the lavish brunch, the Easter bunny, and the Egg hunts are all great but my prayer this Easter is that my son will enjoy those things in the future, but will be able to see past all of this and understand the true meaning of why we celebrate Easter. I read him the Easter story, and I hope this is something we do together every Easter, and that one day he reads it to me instead. I pray that he understands how undeserving we of God's Grace, yet we have been blessed with this wonderful gift. I hope he takes the gift and shares it with the world.
For this is the True reason of Easter..
And this is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.
- 1 John 2:25
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him.”
- John 3:16-17
For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied. But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.
- 1 Corinthians 15:16-20
