This past weekend Drake and I spent the weekend in NOLA. I hadn't actually been to NOLA since I was in a basketball tournament in middle school, so it was nice to go check it out as an adult. I loved the city, and it was so much fun eating my way through it! What else is a pregnant lady suppose to do in NOLA! :)
Most of you know I am kinda a picky eater and I normally don't order to many things "that are outside of the basic", but I decided to be adventurous and am so glad I did! I ate some of the best shrimp at Mr. B's and I even had to take the head off and all the other things, never have I ever worked so hard to eat a shrimp! Nor made the mess I made! :) I tried the gumbo, king cake, beniets (sp), and poboys! If I never eat a Cajun things again, I will be ok! ;)
Along with all my eating, I also was there for the Superbowl... just a small little game the NFL host every year! :) It still amazes me the money that the NFL puts into one 4 hour game, make that 4 1/2 game when the lights go out! There was not one detail left out, and everything was done to the nine. There was a NFL or 49er Logo just about on everything you could think of, there was a party for anything you needed to do and being at the team hotel there were more people than you can imagine coming out of the wood works trying to get in and see players! It was just an experience.
I loved every minute of it, till we lost! But even with a loss, I felt so blessed to experience the Superbowl as a fan of one of the two teams. It was so fun to be treated like someone special with chartered flights, police escorted buses, private buses to the game, passes to parties and a suite for the game. For one weekend, I forgot I am just a housewife and a stay at home mom! ;) It felt nice!
To top it off, Drake's mom was able to join us and it was so nice to have her with us. I know Drake loved having her there, and I loved having a buddy when Drake was busy!
Even though we loss, I feel that it is a weekend I will never forget, and most likely the last weekend I will have a kid free weekend for quite some time! ( We owe a big thanks to my sister in law, Lisa, for taking Easton for 5 days. Yes, that is a long time, and a lot of my busy man! So we are grateful).
