E News... Easton is 1 week old today!!!
It is hard to believe that at this time last week, Easton had just entered the world and I was in so much pain that I was telling drake that we were not having anymore kids! :) However, in one week I am amazed at all that has happened. I am feeling 100 times better, and Easton and I are out and about and ready to go! Yesterday it was beautiful out, so we went shopping in Los Gatos for the day, and I got to buy normal cloths again!! YEA!!
Easton has been a great baby, and has truly helped his mommy and daddy out. The first night we got home from the hospital, we looked at each other and said, " What now?? What do we do??" OMG we thought we actually have a baby and we have no idea how to take care of one. Easton however must have known, because he has made it so easy on us, he sleeps great and feeds even better ( thank goodness), and well that is about all he does, well besides poop! :)
Here are the highlights from our week:
- Easton got a great report card from the Doctor on our first visit
- Easton got to go out for lunch twice this week
- Mommy got to wear a pair of jeans that have a button :)
- Mommy got to drink a glass of wine
- Daddy gets up and helps mommy at night and rocks Easton back to bed ( He gets the super dad award)
- Daddy went back to work, but checks on us all day! We love him!!
- Easton got to see his Pop
- Grandma Maggie has been awesome and cooks dinner every night and does laundry!!
- Easton did his newborn pictures today!
All of this in a week, no wonder I am tired.. OH wait that is from getting up in the middle of the night! Although I do have to say, he has only made us get up twice a night, which is not bad, so we have come a long way from last Sunday!! I mean now that I think about it, we can have another kid, it really wasn't that bad! :)

No Longer "Life as we know it"..
Yesterday, May 15th was a big day for our little family! Easton Thomas Drake was born at 6:29am weighing in at 7lbs 2 oz and is 20 inches long! ( I was pretty happy with him being 7lbs, being that the ultra sound on Friday predicted him being 8lbs...(thank goodness he wasn't)
Easton is already a pretty special little guy. My mom has been so worried that she would miss his birth having to fly in from Austin, but Easton had a plan all along. We picked up my mom at 3:30pm on Saturday and that is about the same time that I started feeling pretty strong contractions. We had plans to go to dinner that night for our one last meal out before inducing on Monday. Well as the clock rolled around to 7:30pm we were on the road but not to dinner...the hospital! We were admitted right away and then we were in for the long haul.. I will leave the details out, but little man's timing is impeccable once again. He arrived right as the sun was rising. It was beautiful outside, the sun was shining on the beauitful California mountians which was our view as they told me to keep pushing and in return wanted to punch the lady in the face. All of this on a beautiful SUNDAY morning. However, right after he arrived the sun went back in and it rained the rest of the day.. God truly brought him to us!! We are so blessed.
So since then, Drake and I have hardly slept, Easton has slept a ton, and my mom has been wonderful along with ALL of our family and friends who have been there to support us. Drake has been super cute and so wonderful helping, and I have yet to change a diaper, due to Super Dad who is very particular about how you change Easton's diaper! ;) So for now, that is his job! Drake is also very worried about swaddling Easton the same as the nurse does, and I still think it is impossible, but Drake is doing much better at it then I.

Carmel...
This past weekend, Drake and I squeezed in about as much as we could being that it was our last weekend just the two of us. We headed down to Carmel on Saturday morning and it was so pretty, we had perfect weather and just so dang cute! We first ate lunch right on the water, and then headed to the main drag area where there was shopping and a short walk to the beach. We played on the beach, then headed up to "the Cottage of Sweets" ( USA today ranked it a #1 candy shop in 2009) so I had to try it!
We then headed over to Clint Eastwood's bar ( The Hog's Breath) and watch the Kentucky Derby! Chloe even got to join us at the bar! We made it home around 5, only to rush over to watch the next sporting event and some annoying fight that Drake could not miss! ( I am sure he calls my trip to Carmel annoying so I went to the bar for the game and fight happily)
Sunday we were able to make it up to Donald's house ( Drake's brother) and watch Sara and Shea get confirmed. It was great to see his two sisters, Lisa and Tracy along with the kiddos as well. We had a little BBQ and then we were off to the Sharks game! The game was fun, since the sharks are doing so well, the place was crazy! The did not win, but hopefully will do better than the Lakers ( Drake is still upset about this loss)!
Needless to say Drake and I were in bed in about 2 seconds after we finally walked in the door last night! I loved it though, I could not have asked for a better weekend!

Just a waiting...
So May is finally here, I really never thought it would arrive. I have been more anxious about May getting here then I ever was about my wedding date, which is really the only other thing major in my life that I have counted down. ( Mostly due to the fact that getting fatter by the day was not as fun as losing weight by the day for your wedding date :) ) Oh the things I have already done for this child, he has no idea how hard this has been for me to carry him for 10 months.
What I have come to realize is how hard being a mom really is.. I have an all new respect for mothers, i don't think I have ever realized how much they really sacrifice for their children!! As I am about to meet my little guy a thousand things are running through my head and you will be surprised that one that I am not worried the least bit about is LABOR... I know some of you will be shocked since I have always thought Labor looked horrible.. but at this point I figure Labor will be over by the end of the day, however feeding and taking care of my child will just be beginning and it scares me to death.
How are you suppose to know what a baby is telling you and how are you suppose to all of a sudden know how to feed a baby on your own, change the diaper( without getting peed on), get them to sleep, get yourself to sleep and well my list of questions could go on.. but I feel like this might be the hardest job I have ever done!
The other weird thing is the word "my son" .. in less then two weeks I will be looking at my son ( which by the way, I can't wait to find out if he has a full head of hair or not.. if he has blue or brown eyes.. etc.. ) Let's just say it again, "My son" .. really I have a son.. so weird sounding to me!
Either way, I can't wait for May 17th or any day he chooses to come join us to be here and start this process, and the last month has truly been fun for Drake and I.. he has finally gotten really excited and asks me hundreds of questions, in which case I don't ever know the answer to, but I want him to think I do, so I make answers up!:) SHHH.. don't tell! Drake has been really sweet and might be even more ready for his little guy than I am. We have taken the last month to do as much as we can before we might be limited some, it has been fun to just do things just the two of us, since it will be soon 3.. ok ok.. sorry Chloe soon be 4!
Till May 17th however, I will continue to enjoy my sleep and time with Drake, however this is how most nights end up at our house.. Yes drake really needs his little guy to get here and play with him..
